Prep + Post Care

Here’s what you should be doing to prepare for your sugaring session and take care of your freshly sugared skin.

Before Your Reservation

To prepare for your sugaring session, here’s what you should know:

24 - 48 hours before your reservation:

  • Make sure your hair is at least 1/4-inch long (the length of a grain of rice)

  • Avoid tanning or direct exposure to the sun

  • Minimize caffeine and alcohol intake (this prevents your pores from tightening)

  • Exfoliate the area

  • Hydrate from the inside out - Drink lots of water!!

  • If you’re worried about pain, you can take a pain reliever 20 - 30 minutes before your session.

What else we think you should know:

  • Chill - come in to your appointment as relaxed as you can. The anticipation us a lot worse than the actual event!

  • Don’t forget to breath. Your Sugarist will always talk you through the spice - you got this!

  • The first time is the worst time. As long as you keep up with your sessions (every 4 - 6 weeks) it’ll get better.

  • Don’t trim! We appreciate your body hair, it’s normal to us. Just come in as you are.

Post Care + Between Your Appointments

Here’s how you should be taking care of your skin after you’ve been sugared:

To avoid irritation and clogged pores within the first 24 - 48 hours, you should:

  • Avoid excessive touching, sweating, and sexual activity.

  • Do not use any products on the area.

What else we think you should know:

  • Do not shave or wax in between your sugaring appointments - this will revert your progress and cause uneven hair growth.

  • Start exfoliating your skin two days after your appointment. Exfoliation prevents any ingrown hairs and clogged pores, removes dead skin, and loosens hair follicles. You should be exfoliating routinely at least three times a week.
