Why Sugaring is a Superior Waxing Alternative

What makes sugaring so special? How much of a difference can there really be from regular wax?

A big one.

We’re all-natural. 100% chemical-free none of the synthetic resin and chemical additives that serve as colorants, perfumes, regulate pH, etc. often seen in “traditional wax” used for hair removal.

Our sugaring paste is made solely from sugar, water, and lemon. That’s it. There aren’t any ingredients used on your skin that you can’t eat.

Environmentally friendly. We’re an ever-evolving green space with compost on-site to decrease our footprint. Sugar wax is water-based making it 100% organic and biodegradable.

Safe on most skin types including eczema. Hair removal wax sticks to the skin causing irritation and will bring live skin cells along with it when pulled and can even burn you if too hot. Sugar wax only adheres to the hair, dead skin sells and residue, cleansing and exfoliating skin instead of tearing it; and doesn’t need to be burning hot to do so.

“Hot wax attaches to the hair and the skin, pulling skin cells with it as it is removed. This is not only painful, but can cause redness, swelling, inflammation, and even bruising,”

Takes longer to grow back. Sugar paste is softer than hard wax and can more easily sink into hair follicles as it is water soluble. This means the hair is being pulled directly from the root which weakens the follicle making hair grow back slower. The more you sugar, the slower your hair will grow. This also means that over time, hair will grow back lighter and not as coarse.

Little to no ingrowns. Ingrown hairs are caused by hair growing into clogged follicles and getting trapped underneath the skin while trying to grow. Sugaring can help ease this by exfoliating and removing residue that could clog follicles.

Hair being broken, shaved or cut instead of being pulled from the root can also cause the end of the hair to become sharp and curl, painfully growing into the skin. Sugaring bypasses this by extracting hair directly from the follicle to avoid breakage.

“By sugaring, you are basically cleaning out any dirt or skin cells that prevent your hair from growing normally, which helps keep away ingrown hairs."
